The Mayne Fairfield Patio Planter has a simple contemporary look that takes on a fine New England design. It is a spacious planter that can beautifully house your favorite flowers and other plants.
Place it wherever you prefer – the patio, deck, or among your garden. Personally, I place mine on my deck where it nicely accompanies my black resin furniture.
But you don’t have to get black! You can also choose the clay or white color to best match your outdoor furniture. Take a look!
The Mayne Fairfield Square Planter is made from single-molded, high-grade polyethylene. Polyethylene is a high quality plastic that is essentially unbreakable and is commonly used to make outdoor modern planters. Polyethylene is my favorite type of material for flower pots out of the many.
They are lightweight, long-lasting, and highly durable planters. Obviously, take care of the planter still and don’t be reckless with it. These types of planters will give you many seasons of use.
In fact, this specific planter is composed of a double-wall design for extra durability. It features a contemporary framed-panel design with elegant molding on the top and bottom. Moreover, the UV inhibitors within the resin allow the planter to be fade-free and insusceptible to color changes.
Overall, I have never had any problems with the material or construction of my Mayne planters over the years. The high-grade polyethylene makes sure the planter does not dent, crack, rust, or fade. They are also recyclable and environmentally friendly!
Note: Store this planter away for the Winter months however! Some reviews say that it is weather-inclined all year round. But I disagree and would rather be safe than sorry. It is lightweight and so it is not robust and could be damaged in harsher weather conditions.
This planter is composed of a self-watering design which is super convenient because you don’t have to water it frequently! How does that work? It’s quite simple actually.
The sub-irrigation system essentially stores water in the base of the planter, so when the roots get thirsty again they consume the water as they need it from troughs in the bottom of the planter.
Capillary action allows the water that is in the built-in reservoir at the bottom to soak upward, constantly keeping the soil and plant roots moist. It promotes healthy plant growth by allowing the roots to absorb water when they want to.
Better yet, to avoid over-saturation of water, an overflow hole is drilled through the exterior wall allowing excess water to simply drain out from the planter. This ensures the plant roots can never drown.
Note: Regular watering is required for the first couple weeks. This allows the root system to develop down into the troughs. Once this happens, the roots will then be able to pull moisture from the reservoir, thereby creating the self-watering effect.
